I wonder if AMC plans to develop the Talamasca further for their Immortal Universe… I think it would be a smart move, because as a concept, they have a lot of potential
I really don’t remember if its fully explained at some point in later books, but both in the vampires and in the witches novels, there’s always a hint that the Talamasca’s Elders are perhaps not what they appear to be, that maybe they’re not human but something Else.
They are very mysterious about themselves. Their own members know nothing about the Elders; direct communication is directly forbidden.
Lasher keeps forbidding his witches from interacting too long with them, saying that the Talamasca has a very nefarious purpose of their own. At the end of the novel Merrick, the Talamasca Elders all but kick Lestat out of New Orleans. To make threats as they did to a vampire as powerful and as reckless as Lestat, methinks they had to have something to back them up on this, since it’s only because David, Louis and Merrick all plead with Lestat to NOT go into a murder spree towards the Talamasca that stops him from attempting to do so.
Years ago, when I talked with fans who read Merrick as it was released, I remember they telling me that they were SO sure that the following Vampire Chronicles novels would feature either a cold war or an open conflict between the vampires and the Talamasca… but since Anne completely dropped the concept to never pick it up again, RIP to whatever nefarious purpose the Talamasca Elders originally were supposed to have, I guess 😔

@ my star trek followers who have seen enterprise –
what’s the weirdest thing that’s happened in that show? the threshold of enterprise, if you will
“Dear Doctor” for, well, all of it
And “Impulse” for the Zombie Vulcans which is equal parts bonkers and awesome
Trip gets pregananant and grows nipples on his wrists
A planet turns Archer, Malcolm, and Hoshi into frog cavemen
The captain’s dog pees on a tree and gets sick and he has a lot of weird feelings about it
Archer decides not to kill a shipful of children and the crew thinks it’s a bad thing
Hoshi becomes Mrs. Bluebeard for a day and it goes as well as could be expected
The finale is framed as the deleted scenes from an episode of TNG that aired eleven years previouslyThe show had some. interesting moments. That’s for sure
I hate the term “unalive” unless we’re talking about the thing Ned the Piemaker does after alive againing someone
She was assembled with parts from all the designees. She’s their tangible presence in this world.
MAYFAIR WITCHES 1.06: TRANSFERENCE.
Star Trek: Voyager
TsunkatseSEVEN: Two hours, thirty seven minutes, thirteen seconds. That’s how long we’ve gone without verbal communication.
TUVOK: Why is that remarkable?
SEVEN: The Doctor encourages me to engage in conversation during awkward silences.
