No one can be fully aware of another human being unless we love them. By that love we see potential in our beloved. Through that love, we allow our beloved to see their potential. Expressing that love, our beloved’s potential comes true. Problem solving is hunting. It’s a savage pleasure, and we are born to it. A pleasure we can share. You don’t want me to have anything in my life that’s not you. I only want what’s best for you. You’re right. We are just alike. You’re as alone as I am. And we’re both alone without each other. An imago is an image of a loved one, buried in the unconscious, carried with us all our lives. An ideal. The concept of an ideal I have a concept of you, just as you have a concept of me. You cannot control with respect to whom you fall in love. We afforded each other an experience we may not otherwise have had. You and I have begun to blur. Freeing yourself from me and me freeing myself from you, they are the same. We’re conjoined. I’m curious whether either of us can survive separation. When it comes to you and me, there can be no decisive victory. We are in zero-sum game. You and I are suspended over the roiling Atlantic. Soon all of this will be lost to the sea.
