DS9 AU where during somewhere in s7 Starfleet picks a random distress call from some planet that turns out to be from Jadzia who was stranded there for a couple of years, because she got transported-duplicated in some accident, Thomas Riker style. She comes back to the station and now Sisko has to live with the company of Two Daxes present in his life, full time
So, Star Trek: Picard - here is my late review of this season as a whole. Spoilers for the whole season under the cut.
honestly the fact that Elnor knew Data had a cat because Picard would tell him stories about Data during the visits, the fact Will and Deanna’s daughter was born long after Data was dead but she still knew that he liked Sherlock Holmes, and to play violin, and that he ran super fast and about his desires to be more human-like, that Will, without a word, just by the general context but that just seeing the way Soji moved, that he could see that she was Data’s daughter….
they all loved Data so much :(
honestly the earnest, sorrowful but absolute tender way that Picard speaks about Data in Star Trek: Picard never fails to choke me up
in Star Trek: TNG, Picard wasn’t the warmest of the captains - never cold really, but it also took him seven years to participate in the poker game of his crew. in Measure of a Man, he initially tries to persuade Data to give his autonomy to Starfleet, until he realizes exactly what he is doing
and then comes Nemesis and Data sacrifices himself to save him. I always hated Nemesis and the decision to kill the android character, but the way that STP is handling this… I like it quite a lot, because it’s so clearly haunted by this loss, by the sacrifice a friend did for him to live, and it affects him so deeply that such an unique being like Data died for him
Picard left Starfleet faced with the fiasco of Federation’s lack of compassion for the Romulans and for the mess that was the prohibition of synts, retired and hide from the world, but as soon as Dajh appears and he discovers she’s his “daughter”, she gains his immediatly devotion - If you are who I think you are you are dear to me in ways that you can’t understand.I will never leave you - he tells her, means every word of it. She is a piece of Data, and she has his heart from this fact alone. and when Dajh dies and he can’t save her he is SO heartbroken - She deserved better from me - he says, means every word again - couldn’t save Data, couldn’t save his daughter.
and then the information that she has a twin. As soon as he learns about Soji Asha, the desperation he feels to try and save her, the hopeless operation, the mismatched crew, going along despite knowing hardly anything, he’s just trying about everything to try and save her the way he couldn’t save her sister
and the desperation, again, when he meets Soji already activated - I’m a friend of a friend of your father’s - and the way he begs that she lets him help her - Please, Soji, let me help you. Please, trust me. Please
and there’s more to it to the story, of course - Federation’ corruption, the Tal Shiar involvement, and the fact that he wants to get to the bottom of it but at the end, it all started, it all began with Picard’s love of Data and his sense of his loss of his dear friend that haunts him.

so i’ve read the cursed gomens screenplay for the film that was supposed to happen in the 90’s and (thankfully) never happened that was making the rounds on my dash yesterday and today and… it really is cursed, uh
like if i was going to judge it just as a story, just as a screenplay without any other context I would say it could make a somewhat decent film, though it would be in a cheesy, forgettable work. But like as an adaptation it would be wild man because it really doesn’t carry any of the charm of the book or any of the charm of the characters’ personalities lmao
i mean crowley in this screenplay is. such. an. asshole. He really is. He’s just SO mean and he’s weirdly a misanthrope? Is startling how much he loathes humanity and that he genuinely wants the Apocalypse to happen. And in all gomens verses - be the book, the show, the radio play even - you get the sense that Crowley and Aziraphale are really good friends who like each other a lot, and that Crowley respects Aziraphale, but in this thing here, he barely tolerates Aziraphale at best. If this had become a movie, I think some of these sharper edges could have been softened, depending in how the acting would be, but like there ain’t any way you could soften him saying to Aziraphale “you’re so stupid you don’t deserve to live” like… that’s so mean, this Aziraphale - whose unbeliavable naivete’s is really overplayed - surely deserve better friends ):
also Madame Tracy’s adopting Adam is a wild idea but honestly I think it could be cool if this Madame Tracy was anything like she was in the book or the show but in here it’s just so. Weird. In a non fun way. (tho now I kind want to read a fic who uses this concept but like. in a good way). Also hate that The Them aren’t friends and that Brian is such a tiny bully asshole.I kind like this version of Anathema tho, even if she doesn’t have the Book, it doesn’t feel like she was as butchered as the other characters were
to point two good things I will say that weirdly Satan was my favorite character. He is very charming and honestly a good sport about Adam not wanting to be the Antichrist thing. Also Shadwell doesn’t exist in this play and he’s not missed at all
tl;dr this screenplay is an entertaining read that would have made a pretty terrible adaptation and i’m glad it never saw the light of the day
Oh yeah, sure! I didn’t think anyone who follows me was going to watch this show, glad to know it isn’t the case because it’s so good. I’ll be tagging it as #the new pope spoilers from now on, then ~~
finally went to see the new star wars with my best friend today and idk man. maybe it’s because my expectations were really low but i didn’t find it to be /that/ bad
i mean it’s kind underwhelming, and some parts it just /drags/ while other parts are all over the place but overall it isn’t the giant hot pile of garbage i was lead to believe it was
I was looking for
L'une chante, l'autre pas
(One Sings, the Other Doesn’t) - I saw a feel stills of this film a couple of weeks and it made me curious enough to want to watch. Bit hard to find tho.
I think I may have found it early today but it’s a pretty heavy file, so I still have to try to see if it’s a working file ~~
I don’t usually read Star Trek comics, but I’ve spent a good chunk of tonight reading The Q Conflict. It’s a big crossover comic between TOS, TNG, DS9 and . The official summary is this:
When a dispute between godlike beings threatens the galaxy, it will take all of Starfleet’s best captains to stop them. James T. Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard, Kathryn Janeway, and Benjamin Sisko must go head-to-head in a competition rigged by the arrogant Q and his nigh-omnipotent cohorts.
I, of course, read this hoping for some Qcard moments. There ain’t many lmao but some comments below the cut (spoilers for the whole thing, as well as a few images)
