When the cast of Discovery was asked about their favorite Trek episodes, shows, or movies, it was TOS, TNG, and AOS. It was disappointing to see no love for DS9. Though I did wonder if it was because none of them had seen it. Perhaps someone reached out to Anthony Rapp about this via the Twitterverse which is why he’s watching it now.
And Harris Yulin’s performance in Duet is very praiseworthy. (Nana Visitor’s performance is outstanding as well.) But it was interesting to see Ira Behr share this bit of info about Yulin in response to Rapp.

After months of hints, CBS confirmed Tuesday that its new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Discovery, will have an out gay character. Anthony Rapp, most famous as the original Mark in Broadway’s Rent, has been cast as officer and astromycologist Lt. Stamets.
Rapp is himself an out gay man, which makes this casting particularly notable in an industry that still has trouble recognizing
and rewarding LGBTQ actors. But Stamets being one of the new series’
primary characters is important on several different levels — especially
