My favorite thing about this episode is that it doesn’t employ the usual storyline about aliens that alludes to a contemporary social issue. DS9 straight up spills that tea
[The part in DS9, “Far Beyond the Stars,” when Sisko gets fired from the magazine and he breaks down is some of the most powerful acting I’ve seen in Star Trek. I cry every time. The episode is brilliant. And it’s so refreshing to see the actors play different characters.]
