(image description: can you imagine. you’re worf. you grow up idolizing curzon dax because he’s a hero of klingon history. then you end up marrying him but he’s a woman now. so it’s not exactly him but pretty close. and you go on a vacation you didn’t even want to go on. and you learn that your klingon war hero was fucked to death by this woman who is now flirting with your wife. /end ID)
My favorite friendship is Sisko & Dax, hands down. I love the lifelong friendship Sisko has with all Dax hosts, be it with Curzon, with Jadzia or with Ezri (and even with Yedrin for the shortest time). I love the respect, the trust, the jokes and the history between them. My #1 favorite is the friendship between Sisko and Jadzia, but I love the relationship he has with all the Daxes.
I’m thinking about Fascination and how Dax suddenly comes onto Sisko “it’s you it’s always been you”… And it’s one of those things that’s weird, because brotp holy hell, but makes a bit too much sense to brush off completely
“ in seven lifetimes I’ve never had a friend quite like you” While some friendships last between hosts, it’s clear that many either don’t click the same way or fall out of importance or the other person can’t stop treating them like the former host… And it’s weird and hard, but the symbionts are supposed to seek out new experiences anyway—
But then Dax, and Sisko has been friends with three hosts, each of their relationships unique but equally important to him–
And I’m just saying maybe part of what makes Sisko different is that HE IS NONLINEAR, he is part prophet that in part EXISTS OUTSIDE OF TIME! and that’s got to be attractive on a subconscious level for a being that is one part timeless centuries-old worm and one part young humanoid… or at least explains why he’s the first in seven lifetimes to be such a singular friend.
They’re both hybrids and have weird relationships to time, I’m just saying.
