please don’t do that.

let’s be clear that andy robinson knew garak was gay/bi from the start, and what ira steven behr said in the documentary was that he feels ds9 didn’t do well enough by the lgbiaq+ community.

he literally said don’t tick that box.

he said they should have taken the opportunity to explore garak canonically coming out as gay(/bi) across multiple episodes.

he is not saying “garak was gay all along”, though he is not disputing garak’s queerness or trying to shut down andy or the fans, he’s acknowledging that canonically officially, garak wasn’t, but should have been.

he’s owning up to his mistake (hopefully if he’s involved in any future projects, he will make sure to have better queer rep)
