y’all i still can’t believe empok nor was a real episode like damb

I think it’s hilarious that Andy hates that episode.  My dude, the psychotic killer is part of who Garak is.  Accept it.

Totally!

Back when I watched “Empok Nor” in super detail to get screen captures and share dialog, I concluded it was really one of my favorites. I love Andy in that, he’s so good. And I do believe that you learn things about the real Garak in it.

For anyone who’d like to see my screen-caps, complete with lots and lots of the dialog, click here – it goes to my posts tagged “empok-nor” and after a few entries it’s ALL from when I did that.

Sample, which goes with the picture above:

Garak’s just reported in to O’Brien on killing Killer Cardie #1. He then delivers another report.

Garak: By the way, I took a tissue sample from the soldier’s body. The analysis was rather fascinating, in a grim sort of way. It seems the unfortunate soul had been given a massive dose of psychotropic drugs.

O’Brien: Why?

Garak: I’m not sure, but I can tell you one thing. It wasn’t to make him amicable. The drug’s protein structure seems designed to amplify my people’s xenophobic tendencies. My guess is that the soldiers that were left here were part of a Cardassian military experiment. The High Command was probably looking for a way to further motivate their troops.

O’Brien: So they gave them a drug to make them hate anybody but Cardassians?

Nog: Then why did they attack you?

Garak: That’s a good question.

O’Brien: Maybe it’s an experiment that went wrong. That’s why they were left in stasis. They were uncontrollable.

Garak: I’d love to stay and hypothesize all afternoon, but once I’ve set my mind to a task, I hate to leave it unfinished. What is it, Chief?

O’Brien: You look different.

Garak: How so?

O’Brien: That’s not the face of a tailor.

Garak: I’m not a tailor. Not for the moment, anyway.

“I sat down at the end of the bar instead of going to my usual place on the second level. I wasn’t sure how long I wanted to stay; I just had to get out of the crowd and a grip on my feelings. I was in a dangerous mood.

Ever since that ridiculous holosuite program, I thought. The spy game. Well, of course it’s a game. It’s all a game. But it’s not a holosuite program. And yet, the moment Julian wounded me with his ridiculous weapon, everything changed. I thought it was a magnificent moment. He showed me that he had the spine to play the game as it ought to be played. But why then did he back off? Why couldn’t he go beyond that moment? Why did our relationship end?” — A Stitch In Time (DS9 novel) by Andrew Robinson
