[ID: 6 gifs from season 2, episode 20 “the maquis, part 1” from the tv series “star trek: deep space nine”, the gifs show benjamin sisko and gul dukat in runabout with sisko piloting it.

1st & 2nd gif: gul dukat remarks, he is looking at his controls, “i can’t help but notice that my controls are not illuminated.” he turns to look at sisko as he continues speaking, “isn’t it customary for both seats to be turned on, so that i may pilot the craft in the event of an emergency?”

3rd gif: “if there’s an emergency, i guess you’re out of luck.” sisko replies, focusing on piloting the runabout.

4th gif: “commander, i’m not going to sit here and steal your little technical secrets, i promise you.” dukat tells sisko in an attempt to convince him.

5th gif: “ i appreciate your assurances, but cardassians are famous for their photographic memories.” Sisko informs dukat, all the while still focusing on piloting the runabout.

6th gif: “oh, so you turn off my controls so i don’t have enough light to take my photograph, is that it?” dukat wonders. /end ID]

[ID: 7 gifs from season 2, episode 20 “the maquis, part 1” from the tv series “star trek: deep space nine”, the gifs show benjamin sisko and gul dukat in runabout with sisko piloting it.

1st gif: benjamin comments idly while piloting the runabout, “i’ve heard they put cardassian children in intense mind training programs when they’re four years old.” he turns his head to face dukat, “is that true?

2nd gif: "the cardassian educational system is unparalleled in the quadrant.” dukat brags. benjamin looks straight ahead.

3rd gif: “if you don’t mind taking the joy out of growing up.” benjamin replies.

4th gif: “education is power. joy is vulnerability.” dukat preaches, shocking sisko, who instantly replies, “what?”

5th, 6th gif: dukat turns a bit to face sisko, “your reaction surprises me, commander. i thought you would understand. of all the humans i’ve met, you strike me as the most joyless and the least vulnerable.”

7th gif: “i am when i’m with you.” sisko replies, much to dukat’s amusements who laughs upon hearing this. /end ID]

STAR TREK DEEP SPACE NINE | 5x19

[ID: Five gifs from Star Trek DS9 featuring Kira Nerys and Gul Dukat. Kira is sitting at a table while Dukat is standing.

Dukat is the only one speaking, he says, “I must admit, I do get a certain perverse pleasure out of it.” Kira laughs though it’s clearly forced. Then Dukat tells her, “Read it or not, it’s up to you.” Kira shrugs. She grabs a cup that’s on the table before she throws it at Dukat. The cup nearly misses Dukat’s face before it shatters on the wall.

Really kind of a hot take but if you think Kai Winn is legitimately worse than Dukat you’ve got some issues.

Like what’s worse, being a corrupt religious leader or committing actually r*pe and genocide frequently AND being an even MORE corrupt religious leader because you started a fucking death cult 🤔

I definitely agree with this, but also I’m an aspiring author and from a writers perspective I prefer the character of Dukat. He has a lot of backstory and is such a complicated character with a great arc, but then there’s Kai Winn over here just being annoying and evil and for what? Like whyyy?

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or if you genuinely forgot Winn Adami’s whole backstory of surviving the atrocities of the Cardassian occupation as well as her entire character arc starting with her indignation at the fact that a Starfleet officer, a human of all things, was chosen as the Emissary instead of her, who had dedicated her whole life to serving the Prophets, who she understandably felt betrayed by, so she resorted to turning to the Pah-Wraiths (the Satanic representation we didn’t know we needed in Trek) and also slightly almost mended her relationship with Kira which Dukat certainly never did (she even admitted her flaws and seemed to understand the weight of the things she had done), and then getting tricked into sleeping with Gul Dukat (can you fucking imagine), throwing him out into the streets blind and helpless when she found out the truth, also she fucking KILLED him albeit temporarily.

That’s a lot of things. Dukat’s entire character was just why don’t the people I oppressed like me I was such a nice guy :’(
