the best thing about these two is that there are infinite possibilities for the infinite ways and infinite times they embrace in heavy coats or thick sweaters or dark cloaks with cold hands and warm mouths. whether spock’s the one wearing the hat pulled down to cover his ears or jim’s the one who borrowed it to keep his head warm.
when they went back in time and needed to blend in and stood facing one another on the streets of san francisco in the damp chill of winter, and spock learned that jim wasn’t—literally—as hot as spock had always assumed, given the potential metaphorical comparison one might draw between him and a sun—and promptly informed jim of such. ‘you are not hot, jim.’ and jim’s cheeks were a little redder after. ‘wow, spock, i don’t know how to thank you for that one.’
