[ Jennifer Lien is fan-fricking-tastic as Kes. Her skilled portrayal of Kes’s strength, gentleness,compassion, insight, and curiosity gives the character wonderful nuance–and her turn as the Warlord is incredible and hilarious. Lien also adeptly shows how Kes grows and changes over the seasons she’s present–from a quietly self-confident but inexperienced young person to an equivalent-of-a-twentysomething who is both confident in and curious about who she is, and is ready to explore the universe. ]
