The general theme of DS9 in a nutshell.
The brilliant thing about this is, the very next episode is “In the Pale Moonlight.“ Sisko finds his answer.
I’ll be honest, it was almost impossible for me to choose which of DS9’s two main female characters I wanted to focus on for our first DS9 week. As I teenager I loved the bright, vivacious Jadzia Dax - and I still do. But just like my appreciation for Deanna Troi, my adoration for Kira Nerys…
you can see where Damar just breaks and it’s heartbreaking and that hint of a nod he gives Kira there is basically the Cardassian equivalent of “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I finally see what we actually did to you and now I realize what this feels like and I’m sorry" and then Garak’s all like “hey major that was a good thing you just did you made a Cardassian see your point of view you are a powerful person you’re gonna go somewhere" meanwhile Kira’s all like “fuck that was stupid of me" when it really was probably the one thing that made Damar realize he had to follow her lead and do what she had done for the Bajoran people for his own
Incredibly powerful and poignant. I’m so glad someone screencapped this. Example 1/bajillions of why DS9 is and will always be my favorite.
Second Skin: an episode where Garak saves the day and Andrew Robinson steals every scene he’s in.
