"‘I say, Watson,’ he whispered, ‘would you be afraid to sleep in the same room as a lunatic, a man with softening of the brain, an idiot whose mind has lost its grip?’
‘Not in the least,’ I answered in astonishment.
‘Ah, that’s lucky,’ he said, and not another word would he utter that night."

You’re not hurt, Watson? For God’s sake, say that you are not hurt!

It was worth a wound — it was worth many wounds — to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask.

The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation.”

In an instant he had whisked out a revolver from his breast and had fired two shots. I felt a sudden hot sear as if a red-hot iron had been pressed to my thigh. There was a crash as Holmes’s pistol came down on the man’s head. I had a vision of him sprawling upon the floor with blood running down his face while Holmes rummaged him for weapons. Then my friend’s wiry arms were round me, and he was leading me to a chair.

“You’re not hurt, Watson? For God’s sake, say that you are not hurt!”

“It’s nothing, Holmes. It’s a mere scratch.”

He had ripped up my trousers with his pocketknife.

“You are right,” he cried with an immense sigh of relief. “It is quite superficial.” His face set like flint as he glared at our prisoner, who was sitting up with a dazed face. “By the Lord, it is as well for you. If you had killed Watson, you would not have got out of this room alive.

Well, Watson, you have done all that a good friend could. You can now disappear from the scene.”

“I must wait and hear his opinion, Holmes.”

“Of course you must. But I have reasons to suppose that this opinion would be very much more frank and valuable if he imagines that we are alone. There is just room behind the head of my bed, Watson.”

“My dear Holmes!”

“I fear there is no alternative, Watson. The room does not lend itself to concealment, which is as well, as it is the less likely to arouse suspicion. But just there, Watson, I fancy that it could be done.” Suddenly he sat up with a rigid intentness upon his haggard face. “There are the wheels, Watson. Quick, man, if you love me!

I don’t like it, Holmes.”

“My dear fellow, you shall keep watch in the street. I’ll do the criminal part. It’s not a time to stick at trifles. Think of Mycroft’s note, of the Admiralty, the Cabinet, the exalted person who waits for news. We are bound to go.”

My answer was to rise from the table.

“You are right, Holmes. We are bound to go.”

He sprang up and shook me by the hand.

“I knew you would not shrink at the last,” said he, and for a moment I saw something in his eyes which was nearer to tenderness than I had ever seen. The next instant he was his masterful, practical self once more.

You may address me as the Count Von Kramm, a Bohemian nobleman. I understand that this gentleman, your friend, is a man of honour and discretion, whom I may trust with a matter of the most extreme importance. If not, I should much prefer to communicate with you alone.”

I rose to go, but Holmes caught me by the wrist and pushed me back into my chair. “It is both, or none,” said he. “You may say before this gentleman anything which you may say to me.

The Hound Of Baskervilles (Book):

Almost a personal record: I read “The Hound of the Baskervilles” in less of 24 hours.

Yeah, my new addiction in Sherlock Holmes is VERY great.

Like a compulsive reader, I have to say:

Was my first book of Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle. And I regret delay so long in reading something from him.

I love the narrative. Loved the way that Watson describe the things and persons - in a romantic and critical way. I loved Holmes and his brilliant brain. I loved the misterious plot. Conan Doyle was a genius.

Like a crazy fangirl, I have to say:

The book DON’T made me stopped to ship Holmes/Watson.

Quite the contrary.

Obviously, don’t have so much stuff to concretize my suspicions fangirl. Subtle things. The way that Watson was upset when Sherlock don’t tell him the things, but stay happy and honored when Sherlock praise him… the way that Sherlock gets a little worried with Watson’s security… the absolute fascination that Watson have for Sherlock… it’s sutle things, that for some people can mean absolutely nothing, but not for a paranoid mind like the mine.

So, I’m anxious to read more of Sherlock Holmes! Sir Arthur Conan Doyle didn’t disappoint me <3
