The House of Flying Pancakes: On Kirk/Spock: some quotes

damnspacepirate:

  • Interviewer: “There’s a great deal of writing in the Star Trek movement which compares the relationship between Alexander The Great and Hephaestion to the relationship between Kirk and Spock focusing on the closeness of the friendship, the feeling that they would die for one another.”

The Imaginary Empire: Man the Sickbay Scene… Just watching it isolated GIFS and video clips...

Man the Sickbay Scene…

image

Just watching it isolated GIFS and video clips is good enough, but watching it in context of the entire movie makes all the sweeter because of what happened prior to this point, what with Spock leaving to purge all emotion and Kirk, feeling so lost and angry without…

Sometimes I think what the writers/actors/directors thought when some popular Spirk scenes were made… for example, I always try to find a straight explanation for the turbolift scene in “And The Children Shall Lead” but just… no. I can’t think in what lame heterosexual excuse they used in this scene, because it just screams gay.

Fic Rec: The Stratos Bride

Title: The Stratos Bride
Author
Pairings: Vanna/Droxine, Spock/Kirk
Universe: Star Trek XI
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Genre: Movie Reference, Episode Related, Action/Adventure, Romance
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, slash and femmeslash (non explicit)
Words and chapters: 51.484 words, 6 chapters, complete
Summary: Joanna thought that visiting Leonard for a week would be awesome. She’d get to meet the father she never knew, hang out on a starship, & meet the famous Jim Kirk - & maybe even get to see something cool. Instead she falls and hits her head, freaks out Leonard into Over-Protective-Dad mode, & has to lamely stay in Sickbay for the rest of the trip. How much worse can it get? Try Jim wanting to tell her a story to help pass the time. Why should Joanna care about some planet named Ardana, & the High Advisor’s daughter that gets kidnapped by a pirate? Especially when Jim insists there’s romance involved - ew. But when the story starts to reveal that Jim, Spock, & Leonard kidnapped a princess - topped by some adventure and swashbuckling - well, maybe it is worth listening to. Especially when it reveals that Leonard - er, her father - might be someone whom she might unexpectedly like, after all.

Summary 2: This is a Reboot version of the TOS episode “The Cloud Minders”, told as a Princess Bride AU.

Well, well, thanks to this story, I am now shipping Vanna and Droxine. It’s not like I needed more pairings to ship, but still, they are never too much. It’s a delicious story, but I must warn that, unlike the majority of the stories that I recommend, this one lacks porn. Actually, even that the romance is part of the plot, it’s secondary; this is most a adventure story. A really good one.
