Two of my favorite ST characters.

Such an amazing dialogue because we finally see Federation from outsiders perspective too

Reason #1,324,789 of why I love this show.

This was a casual side conversation between Bashir and Sisko about a fellow crew member, completely unrelated to the episode’s plot, and its just so sweet.

It’s nice to know that if you’re a pregnant father-to-be on DS9, your buddies Julian and Miles will build you a hatchling pond, buy you baby clothes, and throw you a shower eagerly attended by the station’s commanding officer (who was practically beaming with joy when he found out that you were expecting).

How wonderful.

And they speak of it so casually with no judgement! Love this!

Aint nothin’ like a baby shower run by dudes. No really.

This scene is just so sweet. It adds nothing to the plot, but it brings the whole “real life” feel of DS9 out really well. Plus, it’s always wonderful to see Sisko going all gooey and adorable over babies.

I think one of my favorite bits of DS9 is that at least at first, almost nobody wants to be there.

abydosarchives:

stephanidftba:

Sisko: Barely steps foot on the station and is looking for a different assignment.
Kira: Very pissed that she has to put up with these aliens coming to HER planet, can’t wait for the provisional gov’t to fall so the aliens leave.
Odo: Very pissed that these aliens are taking control of HIS Promenade.
Dax: Only there for Sisko.
Quark: Has to be blackmailed into staying.
O’Brien: Got a promotion, implied he wants to be there at least a little bit, but Keiko feels useless.
Bashir: Actually chose Station On Fire Trash Can, the nerd.

They all hate each other, but they all just have to deal with it and do their jobs as best they can, because shit’s gotta get done and they’re the ones who are there to do it. And we get to watch them turn into a (big) lil’ family.

Also, when Worf shows up, he’s 100% ready to peace out and resign.

tagged as: Star Trek;  DS9;  listen the beautiful thing is that in ships like the enterprise... both kirk's and picard's... they're always saying shit like;  oh  this is The Dream ship i ALWAYS wanted to end up in the enterprise who wouldn't??;  and ds9 is well... trash can station really where things are falling apart and people kind hate each other and they're so different;  so much cultural difference between them;  and yet!!! and yet!!;  they become strong friends and straight up family in such a wonderful powerful way;  Deep Space Nine;  Star Trek: DS9;
