day thirty is a fic I have promoted with art before but THAT’S BECAUSE IT’S REALLY FUCKIN GOOD GUYS. It’s all about these two idiots learning how to COMMUNICATE and also discovering that being vulnerable can be Okay and also that actually… they can really enjoy each other’s company! Essentially is has everything you could want in a “bad relationship grows to be healthy” fic and I love it so much.

I know that Lestat supposedly gives up on rockstar life after quotd but… as if he would??? you KNOW he’s gonna be coasting on that fame for as long as he can, and you know what that means? formalwear. red carpet events! PAP PHOTOS OF HIM AND HIS TALL, DARK AND HANDSOME BEAU!!! for official events Louis will only go as Lestat’s date on the condition that he gets to pick his own outfit, which Lestat allows on the condition that Louis at least tries to match.
Lestat gets invited to some awards ceremony in the 2010s and is absolutely fucking delighted as the media loses their shit trying to figure out how this man who should be in his fifties still looks like he’s twenty (the going theory is that the record company keeps killing him off and replacing him with younger guys), and each time he’s asked Lestat just laughs and says “duh, I’m a vampire”. every now and then Lestat will get the singing bug again and pose as his own tribute act - and then when he gets bored of it Daniel helps him stage his own death.

look… I know we like to joke about how Lestat has a mortifyingly specific type, but I saw someone describe Louis as “Nicki 2.0″ and I just… no!!! Louis is so much more than that!
like yeah, superficially they’re very similar, but the core of their characters are completely different and it’s totally wrong to say that they’re basically the same person… anyway I got very emosh about it so I wanted to have a go at drawing them together, making sure that their visual designs reflect that superficial similarity with core differences.

Louis gets rid of some old things, and decides to keep some others.
day three is a break from the run of adorable fluff for a fic that’s more… cathartic than happy. I usually don’t read anything that acknowledges canon past QOTD but I really like the Louis voice in this, he comes across as… mature? Louis very much knows himself, and his mind, and has agency in his choices, and is getting on with his unlife rather than moping around waiting for Lestat to come back. it’s refreshing to read and I like it.
I don’t entirely agree with all of the headcanons, which is possibly because this is set post-trilogy and I disagree with most things post-trilogy, but there a lot of details I really like, I love that it has the literal exploration of Lestat’s quote about “taking photos down from the attic that should be of ancestors but they’re of us”, and L&L being able to let go of Rue Royale and move forward is so vital to their relationship ever progressing, but it’s used so rarely in fic.
also Louis’ musings about what he and Lestat could have been if they were humans was part of what inspired me to start thinking about my fic The Slow Path! so I owe a little debt of inspirational gratitude to this fic for that :)

I’m not sure where I first picked it up, I think it was in a fic somewhere, but I love love love the headcanon that Louis reads to Lestat. it really sweetly combines Lestat’s need for constant affection and attention with Louis’ love for books. I bet it takes them ages to get through each story, because you know Lestat is gonna be interrupting to “discuss” every little detail.
also I bet as soon as it becomes a Thing, Lestat completely revamps (hoho) a whole bedroom and designs it to be a Reading And Snuggle Space because he’s like that and obviously he can’t just say “hey I really like that thing that we do”. he gotta drop like 10k to prove he’s invested without, like, having to admit to feelings about the whole business.
