Make a wish. And see yourself, on-stage, inside out. A tangle of garlands in your hair. Of course you are pleasantly surprised. Softly, he said, “I will mangle your mind.”

GDSYGAGASD, thank you for this one, you have my love for this <3

[For who don’t know, Brian Slade is the main character of the movie Velvet Goldmine]

why i like them

Brian is my favorite character, for a lot of reasons. Of course, being - in a way - an alternate version of David Bowie helps, but it’s not the only reason. I love his ambition, how he wants to do something and didn’t give up. I love how he managed to mix his ideas with something else and make a powerful thing. I love even his blase attitude, and I love his relationship with Mandy and Curt, just so complex and precious.

why i don’t

I really love Brian, but I have to say that I felt mad at him when he just looked at the window Curt going away. But other part of me wanted to hug him because he was so sad, so… and oh, Tommy Stone. God, I hate Tommy Stone.

favorite scene

Come on, this one is really, really hard. But I think I have to say that is the conference, when he and Curt kissed for the first time. Also, I love Brian being all fanboy in his first encounter with Curt.

favorite line

I LOVE Brian’s quotes and lines, but one of the bests is “Rock and roll’s a prostitute; it should be tarted up, performed! The music is the mask, while I, in my chiffon and taff - well - varda the message.”

otp

Brian/Curt. ALL MY LIFE. I dare to say that they are my biggest OTP, counting all the shows, movies, books that I saw/read. I just love them; I think they’re perfect for each other. Brian is all cold and elegant, Curt is… well, wild and hot, they’re opposites that fit too well together.

head canon

In my head canon, after the end of the movie, Arthur showed up the secret of Tommy Stone, and then Brian ends Tommy’s career and start a new career as Brian Slade, and in the middle of it, he and Curt find each other again and start dating again.

unpopular opinion

Velvet Goldmine is not the more popular thing in the world, so I don’t know how an unpopular opinion about Brian would be… but I guess, perhaps, I can say that I like Brian and Mandy as friends. I never hate Mandy [except for a couple of seconds in the Death of Glitter show, when she tells Curt that she didn’t had saw Brian, and she had saw him], and I just like the idea of them being good friends.
