I am watching, after many years since I last did it, Citizen Kane, and good lord, I have forgot how much Velvet Goldmine have a similar film structure with this movie.
Seriously, is really, really similar. The death of the public figure (Kane/Brian’s fake death), a newspaper trying to discover what the hell was that figure and both newspapers sent a journalist (Thompson/Arthur) to investigate it talking with the old acquaintances of these public figures.
And both stories are told with flashbacks.
I only do not remember if Thompson discovers what Rosebud is (like Arthur discovers what happened with Brian). but I remember what Rosebud is.
But well, is a lot of similarities. One more reason to love Velvet Goldmine; Orson Welles always deserve good cinematic tributes.
