Hannibal 3x06 - “Dolce”
I looked up at the night sky there. Orion above the horizon and, near it, Jupiter. I wondered if you could see it, too. I wondered if our stars were the same.
I believe some of our stars will always be the same. You entered the foyer of my mind and stumbled down the hall of my beginnings.
I love this scene. As a primarily queer fandom, I think we all love this scene for the fact that it very directly acknowledges the love story spun between Hannibal and Will. But I love it for a different reason.
You see, Will knew that he meant something to Hannibal, he recognized the fact they were drawn to one another, and even that Hannibal was somewhat obsessed with him, but this connection was always something dark and twisted in Will’s mind. Something he was ashamed of.
If he was conjoined with Hannibal, it was the sickest parts of their souls that were conjoined. Their connection was that of a monster recognizing another monster; that Will could see Hannibal was, to him, a sign of his own depravity and darkness.
However, this scene was the first time we see Will realize that their connection may not stem from the darkest parts of themselves, but from the best parts of their souls. Everything Will convinced himself Hannibal could never be or feel suddenly turned upside down.
Hannibal just became the scariest thing he could possibly become, and that is human.
