Aziraphale and Crowley in the style of the Late Renaissance Mannerist Agnolo Bronzino. This is a special order I accepted from a curious antique bookseller on Twitter as a new year gift to his friend who is apparently a giant snake. *ahem*

I really wanted to capture the unique finish of Bronzino’s oil-tempera blend paintings. I think he, along with his contemporaries like Holbein, started the colouring process with tempera and then painted on top with very thin layers of oil, so the finish is pale and delicate to the point of being porcelain-like. Meanwhile, no real painting is ever digital-level smooth. So I scratched my head for a bit on how to create realistic smooth surface with a reasonable amount of “patina”.

I also made a mock-up based on an interesting 1540-1570s tabernacle mirror frame with double shutters from the MET Collection. The idea is basically one shutter on each side holds one portrait, while the mirror sits protected in between. In this way, both portraits can be displayed at the same time. They’ll be a pair forever :D

P.S. If you’re somehow interested in antique frames, I highly recommend https://theframeblog.com/

P.P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!

A gag originally from “Spongebob Squarepants” that I just had to apply to Armand and his outspoken opinion on the Replimoids. Benji and Sybelle helped him with the Powerpoint.

Interesting fact! I havent watched whatever “pon farr at the Vulcan nightclub” is from but I desperately want a shirt that says it

Ideal outfit: this shirt, leather jacket covered in patches, skirt, combat boots, IDIC necklace, and fake pointed ears

It’s from VOY episode “In The Flesh” and YES THAT OUTFIT SOUNDS PERFECT (also i have everything you just described except for the tshirt? so guess who’s making the tshirt)

I created the design from scratch, I’m actually pretty happy with it! Now all I have to do is print it!

I am reminded of a film about a young man who comes upon a rat in the streets of Paris. This rat is special; he has been gifted with a talent for the culinary arts. He transcends his station as vermin. Yet he is cursed to live a half life, his greatest talent confined to the kitchen in which he will never be welcome. Yet he strives to live; he conducts himself through the young man, concealed within the chef’s toque. The man becomes marionette to the rat - yet the rat himself is puppet to the whims of his own ability, unable to find significance in the simplicity of his species’ station. In the end, it is only the food which escapes the cruel influence of obligation. It is constituted not by what it must do, but only by what it has always been. Tell me, Will, are you the rat? The young man, controlled? Or are you, perhaps… the food?
