Absolutely love how much Madi and Flint are alike, and I love how seriously they both take this and how commited they are to see this war to the end because they both know this is bigger than them.
I don’t think I ever talked about this show’s main relationship - the one between Silver and Flint, that is, but it’s something I think about a lot.
Funny enough is not something I actually ship? I mean don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t complain if it was made canon, and I do think there’s a ton of subtext for people to be all over it - heck, normally *I* would be all over that but somehow I don’t really ship them.
But! I do love their relationship a lot. I love how much it changes along the show, starts with Flint not caring much about Silver and Silver scared shitless of Flint, I love how Silver gains Flint’s respect slowly until they see each other as equals, I love that at first Silver saw Flint as a means to an end (this end being him getting rich) but he comes to respect and believe so much in him.
Their clash feels like something unavoidable, something that the narrative will push them to do but it also feels like they’re trying to do everythinig they can to avoid it because they do genuinely care so much about each other. Truly an exceptional interesting relationship, in any way you want to look at it
The scene with Max and Anne in the snow was so beautiful… I love Max, which made it so hard to watch her side for so long with the british colonizers, but it’s so nice to see that she learned with Eleanor’s mistakes and decided to say no this time
why suddenly everyone wants to kill my man Flint… he just wants to kill the colonizers in Nassau and to burn the english empire to the ground and no one wants to let him
Gotta love Jack’s optimism, agreeing to a plan where a condition is that he kills Flint, and going as if he’s got any chance of doing so
“Eleanor betrayed me, She turned her guns on me. It would never have occurred to her to do such a thing” lmao my dude. My guy.
You married a woman who had been running Nassau town since she was fifteen, the one Hornigold called pirate queen. It would very much occur to Eleanor to do such a thing. She also has betrayed every lover she ever had. She even told you that!
The spanish contact never asked for Jack :oo all of that, Max betraying Jack and Anne, all over something that wasn’t an exigence
Black Sails is a tragedy, and one of the reasons it is this way is because these characters can never get together at the same time, all of them. The two first seasons have Flint and Eleanor as partners, and Vane as a common enemy and the third season flips this around. Blackbeard is an ally but not at the times it would be more important, and Max actively working against them during all the third season is very damaging for their plans. If only they could have combined all their forces during the same time… I mean the odds would still be very much against them, but they would have had a better shot at it
Flint lying to Eleanor that Rogers wasn’t the one who invited the spanish forces to their door so she can die with the merciful thought that her husband wasn’t the one direct responsible for her and her unborn child’s death…. i’m so sad despite everything I think Flint liked Eleanor a lot
also I’m so glad I didn’t watch Black Sails as it aired. Eleanor’s death is sad enough but I would have been devastated if I thought Madi was also really dead
