I think it’s an interesting direction to make them this jealous in this universe, something that translates well into this version of them. It’s something that does differs a lot from the books because I don’t remember jealousy ever being an issue between them, closest thing being when Armand implies that Louis doesn’t like Antoine, but I think strong jealousy fits well into their tv-versions
Something that is moving me about this IWTV adaptation is that… if you only watched the movie or read only the first book it may elude you since Louis’ pov is so full of grief and bitterness, but the thing is, Louis loves Lestat. He desires him, is head over heels in love, as a matter of fact.
Often I see Louis being portrayed as long-suffering, resigned in his relationship with Lestat and while yes, they are toxic (lmao), they often fight and hurt each other and are quite terrible to each other, but their relationship is not only defined by misery.
Louis likes to be with Lestat, he enjoys his company, lights up when they are together and by memory I can remember at least two characters (Khayman and Amel) commenting how deeply Louis loves Lestat and how very obvious it is. And the fact the show is actually showing this to us from the beginning, that love was actually always there despite everything actually means so much to me
Also forgot to mention this but I was all :’) when Lestat talked about the Savage Garden like!! this is my second favorite quote from all the thirteen books and they put it into the screen :’)
God, the church scene, the confession, Louis’s transformation… this first episode was SO good. I always thought that even the bad books had its moments of shine when it focused on Lestat and Louis and their love and passion, and their chemistry in the show is really great and passionate.
I was sweating when Paul got into the roof but ooof somehow I thought it would be longer before it happened
Louis getting dicked down mid-air in the very first episode was not among my predictions about this show but i’m not complaining
Lestat at the dinner being all friendly and nice until Paul’s questions hits a sensitive point and him getting angry and nasty is just *chef’s kiss*
Sam Reid really gets Lestat huh, like he just walked out of the books. Perfect mix of douchebag-but-still-charming that is so very Lestat lmao
