Geordi knows exactly what Data looks like. Thanks to the Ba’ku (and, okay, a little bit to Q), she even knows what Data looks like to other people. But before she ever opens her new eyes, she knows Data by her quiet, watchful presence, by the way her voice catches and goes soft and wondering when she says “Hello, Geordi.”
The doctors told her there would be a period of adjustment, that even the most familiar things and people would seem strange as she got used to the new sensory input of the implants. That, Geordi thinks, is the most ridiculous thing she’s ever heard.
She’d know Data anywhere.
