“As [Venom 2] leans hard into Symbrock shipper’s fantasies…
"to make a gayer superhero movie…
"than the one with actual gay superheroes in it. [Eternals]”
Pour that tea, Honest Trailers.
Where will we go? I don’t know. Anywhere that needs a Lethal Protector, I suppose.↳ requested by @jackie-sugarskull
Eddie is coded as hyper-masculine: tattoos, motorcycle, stubble, lifts weights, football, wears lots of gray and dark colors…and yet he’s actually very open with his feelings. He tells Anne he loves her, that she feels like home, that he’s scared, and hides none of his breakdown in Venom 1 from her or Dan. He admits to feeling “super vulnerable” to Venom and admires sunsets and binges trashy soap operas. He cries and freaks out and even though he does have a bit of a tough guy, overly-intense act at times, that easily crumbles and despite all the surface-level machoness, the movies never try to sell us on the idea that he’s this super-cool tough dude. Quite the opposite, and it’s very refreshing.
