insane to me how the emh had to fight tooth and nail to get an ounce of respect on voyager and on ds9 vic fontaine is like ohhh no im being harassed in fictional circumstances and everyone’s like nooo vic we love you hahaha :) and drops everything to help him

tagged as: now this. THIS is something that bothers me a lot about voyager;  i have a lot of problems with voyager granted lmao. but this show was so against continuity so when it comes with EMH and his rights;  the other characters look either a) dumb or b) malicious like they have to learn every other episode that the EMH deserves respect and+;  autonomy even if he's an artificial lifeform;  so we have as late as the last season episodes like that one where b'elanna invades EMH's program to mess with his circuits so he'll realize;  a medical procedure he had already refused to do;  and i get she was going through a lot but what she does it's such a 'ah it's no big :)' in the episode;  and i get the impulse to go 'well he IS annoying because well. he is. but voyager argues the entire show that he is sentient hologram;  so like he shouldn't need to be nice and pleasant to have basic rights lmao;  meanwhile the DS9 crew took a look at vic and was like well he's sentient and he's like a person so we're going treat him as such :);  sorry for the essay in the tags. i get passionate about this subject lmao;  Star Trek;  VOY;  EMH;  Vic Fontaine;  Voyager;  DS9;  Deep Space Nine;  Star Trek: DS9;  Star Trek: VOY;
