We set out to change the world… ended up just changing ourselves.
VELVET GOLDMINE (1998) dir. Todd Haynes
I look at women’s eyes. Only the eyes. They turn their gaze away, but then they always look back. It’s a kind of silent dialogue… only one woman here would refuse me… I met Hideko’s eyes by chance but she didn’t look away. Indeed it was I who shifted my gaze.
I am married, quite happily, in fact. I just happen to like boys as much as I like girls. And since my wife feels pretty much the same about such things……I should think we’ve been able to make a fairly decent go of it so far.

We set out to change the world, ended up just changing ourselves.
What’s wrong with that?
Nothing… if you don’t look at the world.
