I will NEVER forgive them for cutting this scene. It’s SO important to his character.

Oh Lord, I found a cutscene of Star Trek 2009 with Jim and Sam (well, since Jim calls him ‘my brother’, I suppose he is Sam) leaving him alone. Well, now I understand why have so much angst in fics who depict Jim’s childhood.
