Ensign Ro’s potent mix of cultural pride and cultural shame is painful, and I’m so glad we get that represented on Star Trek with such a strong character.
In an article about Ellen Page, The Guardian incorrectly listed Sir Patrick Stewart as a gay actor (perhaps confusing him with his BFF?). Stewart seems rather amused, and uses a version of the “but I have gay friends” argument to prove he is heterosexual.
